Teens in Boarding Schools

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Why would anyone want to go to a boarding school when they expect to be taken away from home and spend most of their lives amongst their fellow students and some teachers? Parents who want to give their children a taste of what real life is outside of their ‘nests’, should consider enlisting their children to such schools. Giving them this whole, new level of learning would better make them prepared not only for college life but also their own lives when they finally set out on their own.

Boarding schools are not only meant to teach students but also to provide them with shelter and food for the duration of the term. Since these schools are mainly there for discipline in all aspects, teenagers would greatly benefit from them. A teen boarding school would help mold teenagers to become better individuals. Most people have a wrong connotation of this term as a place for troubled youth. Although this could be the case sometimes, teen boarding schools could also be a place mainly for education and further training.

For some problematic youth, there are also schools that are set up to meet their exact needs. These institutions are called boarding school for troubled youth. Such schools have psychological treatments and therapies that are prepared to meet special youth’s needs. It is also their aim that once the delinquent kids get out of their institutions, they have finally become better individuals and are ready to go out into the world and be a part of it once more.

Settle your Federal Taxes Online

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Over the years, there have been numerous difficulties regarding the complexities and intricacies of federal tax laws and policies. The administration of federal tax laws relies on the efficiency of the Internal Revenue Service, which has recently been advocating the electronic or online filing of tax returns.

By making this online or internet service free to eligible taxpayers (which actually compose a majority of the population), the settlement of federal tax matters has been made a lot easier. Some affiliate member-companies of the Free File Alliance LLC even offer a free federal return based on your state of residence. In this way, federal tax services are made available indiscriminately to the public at large.

The reduced burden of filing federal taxes

One of the most obvious advantages of online free filing is the diminished complexities and difficulties usually faced by the taxpayer. Through the participation of the affiliate companies, software is made available to the taxpayer for the easier preparation of their returns. This minimizes the chances for mistakes or errors on your return.

And since online tax filing is more convenient than the more burdensome traditional methods, there is less hassle for both the taxpayers and the IRS. Anybody can easily access these services online by visiting the IRS website, which is the starting point for the Free File Program.

How can this be?

Exxon mobile closes over 2000 gas stations nation wide, they say they just are not profitable enough.

Most gas stations don’t make their money on gas, they make it on sales from food, drinks and incidentals.

Most make only pennies or break even after the cost of gas and cost of compliance with local, state and federal regulations. As fast as the cost is rising they probably don’t have the funds to make new purchases to replace the gas. They also have to pay a fee of about 3% when gas is purchased with a credit card, so they end up upside down.

——

Well, in the state where I live, several of the stations closed. The probable reason was that their prices over the past 5-8 years were always higher than the other brands stations. The other stations were always busy at the pumps but the Exxon- Mobile pumps hardly ever had any business.

If we produce enough food to feed everyone in the world, why don’t we?

Friday, June 13th, 2008

This question was asked at the Dropping Knowledge event on 9th
September by Amy Johnson, 32, Chicago, Illinois, USA.

We already have way more than enough food to feed the entire world. As it is huge amounts of food go to waste every year. The problem is not that there is not enough, but that the people in countries cannot afford it, and if their harvest fails they can’t afford to have it imported either.

Ah, so why don’t we give them this food that’s going to waste for free, we have no other use for it? Well, that would bankrupt the economies of the countries receiving the food. In those places many peoples livelihoods rely on the food industry; farming is the one of the most common occupations, and then people get employed to package, sell, collect or prepare the food the farmers grow.
Now imagine what would happen if suddenly there was loads of free food around. Why would people still BUY the produce grown in the country? They wouldn’t. As no one was buying he food the farmers would go bankrupt as they would make no money. As the food industry would make no money, and thus collapse, the other people payed to package, sell, collect, prepare, etc the food grown wouldn’t make any money either, as they would be out of a job or their employers couldn’t afford to pay them. Many, many people who previously had a job and enough money to survive would be much, much poorer. This would be especially bad considering in most third world countries the food industry is the main employer.

Thus giving third world countries free food would make the people even poorer.

Also it’d screw up the rest of the country too as the food industries are very important to the economy.

—–

Because many foreign governments are corrupt and if you were to donate food to a country, then that country’s military will seize it and say that their military needs it more than their civilians.

—–

It is a matter of logistics and knowledge of the need. The food maid be grown in USA or England, but the need is in Sudan, Africa, Ireland or even a back street in your town. Our culture seems to react to crisis, but what about the everyday life of some in need. That we ignore out of laziness or a feeling that the needy is only needy because they don’t do their part. I help when I see it and can and pray about it daily

Working for asda?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

i have a interveiw today can anybody tell whats it like to work for them

Not as bad as these other guys are saying. I worked there for 3 years in various different departments. It’s flexible as I worked around my studies and the pay is much better than at Jessops for example (another place I worked). You get a payrise every year and a bonus as well if they have made enough profit. More holidays than where I currently work (I have now got a graduate job), and most people are very nice. Good price canteen food too and 10% discount on your grocery shopping, and 20% off selected things at Christmas! Only bad thing was you had to work at least 1 weekend day, and if you were contracted to Sundays you wouldn’t be paid for Easter Sunday when it was closed (do get paid for Christmas and Boxing Day however).

—–

Glad to see you have had positive feedback (lol) I don’t and never have worked for Asda but go for it, its a job and jobs lead to other jobs its always easier to find other work when you are in work, OK yes there are days nobody wants to go to work but we all get em at least its working with the public which can be very funny. My 1st job when I left school was in retail I really enjoyed it and sometimes even now (15 yrs) later miss it. People moan about going to work at the end of the day no one forces anyone to go to work if its that bad find something else there are jobs out there that’s why job centres are open! go to the interview and learn from the experience get the job and have some personal pride in the fact that the money going into your bank account is from your effort to go out and work.

Who do i contact about my tax refund?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

i had my taxes amended in May and am expecting a pretty big return. amended returns are suppose to take 8-12 weeks, and it’s going on week 11. how would i find out where my return is, it seems kinda difficult to just “call up the IRS” but it’s getting frustrating

Contact the customer service at the IRS. They are very helpful as it is their job to help the public. Live Telephone Assistance 1-800-829-1040.

Click this link to get exact info on your return, enter your social security number, filing status, and the expected amount of your refund, and it should give you the status or your return.

——

We were in the same situation, ours was amended as well, we didn’t hear from them, so we called the IRS and come to find out, they were sitting in a pile of papers, where they shouldn’t have been. They were supposed to send them electronically, today.

What happened to South Vietnam soon after the U.S. troops moved out of the region?

The communists took over South Vietnam, but Eisenhower’s domino theory did not prove to be accurate.

South Vietnam was forcibly reunited with North Vietnam and became a single communist nation.

South Vietnam won its independence and became a democratic nation.

South Vietnam remained anticommunist but continued to be ruled by a dictator.

A basin and river valley (Mekong river)
Tropical wet and tropical dry
Commies took over S. Vietnam but no other country in the region became communuist.(Eisenhower’s Dominoe theory turned out to be false) Explaination; The Khmer Rouge in Cambodia were not communist, just dictators with skewed priorities.

……….

for the last one, there all wrong, but the most accurate is
’south vietnam was forcibly reunited with north vietnam and became a single communist nation.’
as for the first 2, i’m a history geek, so i realy couldn’t care less if i tried.

EDIT: and to Celina above me, the first one is wrong because the domino theory did take place, both cambodia, and laos fell to communism, including genicide in cambodia in the proccess.
they are all wrong because none of them took place after US troops were out of vietnam

………..

A, B, B.

In 1965 the United States sent in troops to prevent the South Vietnamese government from collapsing. Ultimately, however, the United States failed to achieve its goal, and in 1975 Vietnam was reunified under Communist control; in 1976 it officially became the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
