Root of the high gas prices?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Could someone please explain to me why oil barrels are $140? I know there’s enough oil out there. Is it just because of greedy opec? I live in CA and live amongst many oil refineries.

Here are some reasons

1- We use too much gas and we guzzle far too much.
2- China and India are making gobal demand soar.
3- Congress will not let us drill domestically
4- The oil market is tense {Iran, Nigeria} are ticking bombs.
5- Overspeculation is unneedingly rasing prices
6- The dollar is worth less, and inflation is raising it.

——–

China and India make up half the world’s population. China in particular is heavily industrialized now and they are demanding 1000% more oil than just a few years ago. Also, our own unwillingness to drill here in the U.S. and depending on middle east oil. Supply and demand is the third reason. If oil output stays the same and the demand keeps getting stronger the oil prices rise and rise.

———

many factors exist. the most significant ones are likely 1) large increase in demand; 2) inelasticity of demand for oil; 3) weak US dollar; 4) relatively few countries that supply oil; 5) lack of readily available substitutes for oil.

Is plain dyed cotton material toxic?

Monday, June 9th, 2008

i bought some from spotlight, it’s bright red and for a kid’s toy.

dyes may run a little. prewash all cottons anyway in hot water by themselves. rinse with vinegar to set the colors.
Cotton fabrics will shrink just a little bit.
They dyes used today are NOT toxic to anyone or the environment. This is why they run and fade so much.

It should be fine. the worst dyes are industrial dyes, and they are used on your clothes and mass dyed fabric. If you are still worried just wash it once.

Growing vegetables in tropical countries?

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

what kinds of veges or herbs can i grow in tropical countries?

I live in Honduras and you can grow about anything you that will grow in the U.S. Some cool weather veggies will do better at higher elevations but they all grow.

——–

You can grow just about anything anywhere, water with a drip or mist irrigation and put a fine net 3-4 feet above them, this will keep off the intense sunlight

Was your babies circumcision covered?

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Anyone with Capital Blue Cross?

I’m pretty sure Capital BlueCross was one of the insurance companies that stopped covering circumcision, since it was declared as “medically unnecessary”.
The AAP changed its stance on circumcision a few years ago to say circumcision “is not essential to the child’s current wellbeing.”
Because of this, you will almost certainly have to pay for the operation yourself (which may be a few hundred dollars)… OR you could do what more and more parents are doing nowadays and choose not to circumcise at all. That’s right — only ‘half’ of american boys are circumcised now, compared to ‘most’ a few decades ago.

Our wasn’t covered because they kept trying to use the wrong BC/BS card. My husband had put the baby on his insurance, but the ob/gyn kept using my insurance card. We found this out a year later and it was too late so we had to pay all costs for the circumcision. But if they are doing everything correctly, insurance should cover it

As a relative you and your Mum are entitled to apply for and receive all the adoption information (unlike the archaic US sealed records system, the UK opened it’s records way back in 1975 to adoptees and in 2002 to birth relatives)

Possum has given some great links

Apply here and enjoy discovering your roots!

Wow! a thumbs down - what a surprise. Some people here seem to like sealed adoption records. Even though the rest of the world has seen the light; alas there are many dinosaurs out there who defend discrimination and stigmatization of adult adoptees & their relatives. Ah well. Times are a’changin - we now have 8 States where secrecy and lies have been eliminated and the rest will follow . . . thumbs or no thumbs ;)

On your PSP’s home menu go to: Settings > Network Update

Barbie look alike?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

The FAO store in NYC has a design your own Barbie, but the doll won’t look just like you, it will use one of the Mattel Barbie faces.

The only way to get a Barbie that looks like you is to find a doll artist who can repaint a doll. They are out there, but they can be expensive.

The My Twinn dolls are expensive, but they are very high quality.

———

you can’t get a barbie look alike but you can get a doll look alike. By far the best known of the look alike dolls, My Twinn dolls are available and are now owned by eToys Direct. The dolls start at $139, and you build your doll with a variety of hair styles, hair and eye colors and skin tones. You can even have hand painting of the faces for freckles or other skin features. go to this website to see. <3
