The Importance of Invitations in a Digital World

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Whether it is a kid’s birthday party you are throwing or you are sending out rehearsal dinner invitations, the importance of the invitation has slowly diminished over the last decade because we have other ways of notifying people when a get together situation arises. But the invitation is an art that shows our friends that we really care enough about them to actually get up and send something in the mail. Many of us younger people have probably forgotten what it feels like to receive actual birthday party invitations.

All we get these days are Facebook invites or the occasional mass text to say that they are having a party this Friday and they are wondering if you want to come. So do me a favor next time and actually send out an invitation by mail if you are throwing a party for your friends and family. Everyone who receives an invitation will feel fantastic the rest of the day. Even if you are throwing a children’s birthday party, have the courtesy to send the parents of the kids some kids birthday party invitations. They will appreciate it and I guarantee that more people will decide to show up to your gathering if you simply send them an invite.

Security

I am getting a bit worried about security around the place that I live. There has been a bit more crime lately and it has got me worried. My neighbours have both been broken in to and it makes me wonder whether I am the next target. I have a Barking Dog Alarm and I wonder whether that is the reason why they have not been in to my place. I often have weekends away and was away both times there were burglaries. My neighbors have been looking for things to protect their property. I was worried when they said that they were looking at streetwise stun guns and I am not happy that they feel the problem is so bad they have to think that way. However, one of them was verbally threatened by the burglar and he is petrified. I would not be surprised if he did get one of those Stun master stun guns and I will have to be really careful if I call round to make sure he knows to expect me. I think especially at the moment he is very jumpy indeed and I will probably always phone him before I call round just so that he knows it will be me and will not panic.
