My husband is obsessed by basketball. He really wanted to play when he was young and although he played in the school team for a while, he was pretty short and did not get the chances he wanted. Our son is still very young, but I am tall and he is hoping that he might be able to be tall enough to have the chances that he did not. He has already bought him a portable basketball hoop which he does enjoy playing with. I think it is most enjoyable because it is something that his Dad plays with him, rather than it being about the joy of the actual game. Despite the boy being only a toddler he is already looking at basketball backboards to see which will be the best one for him to use as he gets older. I think that this is all a bit presumptuous and my husband may be in for a shock if my son decides that he does not like basketball and the search for backboards, basketballs and other equipment proves to be a complete waste of time. I do hope this will not be the case but I also hope that my son is strong enough to give his own opinion on what he wants to do as he grows up.
