Classy Gifts

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

I am looking for some artists gifts for my Father for his birthday. I am not sure exactly what to get him but I am hoping to broaden his experience of art by buying some things that he has not used before. I thought that some stretched canvas might be a good idea as he does not have any. Then I was wondering whether he might like some new materials or paper or whether something else might suit.

I called my Mum to discuss it with her. She reminded me that I would need to get some stretcher bars to help with the canvas which is something that I had forgotten about. In the end we agreed to meet up so that she could come with me in order to help me to choose the right things. She said that she would be looking at the portfolio cases anyway as she was going to be buying him one for his birthday and wanted to see what sort of things were available. It should be great fun, we have not been on a shopping trip together for quite a while and we will make a whole day of it and have some lunch out too, I am looking forward to it!

Impressionist Paintings by renowned painters

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Paintings are always heart touching and there is nothing to excite when people turn dumbstruck on looking at the sizzling and sensuous painting. There are plenty of far-famed painters of ancient days. Few of them were noted ahead the crowd and one such famed painter is none other than Van Gogh. Van Gogh was one of the eminent painters of ancient times. Van Gogh paintings are one of the exquisite pieces of art. The oil paintings by Van Gogh are most sought after pieces of art. He was a moody painter and it is known that he himself destroyed his first creation. Some of the surviving paintings from the genius include the cottage, the old tower and others.

Impressionist paintings evolved in Paris in about 19th century. One of the leading genres of paintings in this genre is Monte paintings. The type is defined by some exquisite brush strokes, light colors and lucid creativity. The paintings emphasize on light and its effects. Short but deft strokes from the paint brush brought out the central essence of the painting. The painters generally liked to work in tandem with nature. The painting is consistent with the light at the time of painting. Impressionist paintings are based on contemporary subjects.

I suck at dancing, it’s one of the few things I’m really self-conscious about.
I love music, but I just can’t express that love through my body…
the point is I’m going to a club on Friday and I don’t know how to dance.
It’s not a competition or anything, but I don’t want to look anti-social or moody if I can help it. People do dance there, but I don’t know how to.
Any ideas/advice/help or website links would be very much appreciated. Nothing too hard please! Just a few moves that’ll get my through the evening!! =] I’m a girl by the way.. xx

Just be calm and listen to the rhythm…you love music so this is easy for you. I have friends that kinda go off rhythm, too…it just seems like the get too excited that they go off without “feeling” the beat. Just relax and be into it…youtube is great for ideas as well.

It’s all about the music…don’t think about it…just listen to it.

What happened to South Vietnam soon after the U.S. troops moved out of the region?

The communists took over South Vietnam, but Eisenhower’s domino theory did not prove to be accurate.

South Vietnam was forcibly reunited with North Vietnam and became a single communist nation.

South Vietnam won its independence and became a democratic nation.

South Vietnam remained anticommunist but continued to be ruled by a dictator.

A basin and river valley (Mekong river)
Tropical wet and tropical dry
Commies took over S. Vietnam but no other country in the region became communuist.(Eisenhower’s Dominoe theory turned out to be false) Explaination; The Khmer Rouge in Cambodia were not communist, just dictators with skewed priorities.

……….

for the last one, there all wrong, but the most accurate is
’south vietnam was forcibly reunited with north vietnam and became a single communist nation.’
as for the first 2, i’m a history geek, so i realy couldn’t care less if i tried.

EDIT: and to Celina above me, the first one is wrong because the domino theory did take place, both cambodia, and laos fell to communism, including genicide in cambodia in the proccess.
they are all wrong because none of them took place after US troops were out of vietnam

………..

A, B, B.

In 1965 the United States sent in troops to prevent the South Vietnamese government from collapsing. Ultimately, however, the United States failed to achieve its goal, and in 1975 Vietnam was reunified under Communist control; in 1976 it officially became the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
