My 96 crown victoria’s check engine light came on yesterday. The car is hard to start and when I stop at a light the engine kinda sputters and slightly rocks the car left to right.
Any ideas on what the prob could be?
sounds like if not firing right (missfiring not on timing) if you can get the codes pulled at your local autopart store the do it for free i can say more
……………..
First found the codes stored.
Second read the freeze frame data.
Look at mode 6 and read the misfire count and the test threshold.
Sounds too complicated? It is!
Take it to a reputable shop that can read the OBDII data!
……………….
MORE THAN LIKELY A MISFIRE IN THE CYLINDERS.THE CROWN VIC WAS ALSO NOTORIOUS FOR THE PLASTIC UPPER INTAKE LEAKING
…………
I had a similar problem and I took my Van to Auto Zone and they will hook it up for FREE and let you know what the cause is.
