I am flying from outside the USA into the DC, then have a domestic flight out of DC. I am wondering if I have to collect my baggage prior to clearing customs and then re-check in for my domestic flight? Or if my bags will be checked all the way through to my final destination?

US Customs requires all passengers to clear immigration and collect their bags to clear customs at their first point of entry into the US. Yes, you will have to collect your bags in DC and clear customs, but most international airports have a desk to then re-check your bags before connecting to your domestic flight.
